Most Anticipated Films of 2013

2013 is fast approaching and I believe it is my responsibility to give you a list of upcoming movies in 2013 that would be a sure hit (or not)

1. IRON MAN 3

The third sequel of a famous film based on the Marvel Comics character: The Iron Man 3 . That’s right!Tony Stark is back and is ready to get into action once again fresh from his last adventure in The Avengers.Iron Man is faced with a new foe who is endangers Iron Man's life and his his loved ones. Robert Downey Jr. reprised  his role as the famous Iron Man together with Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle, also reprising their roles as Pepper Potts and James Rhodes, respectively. The film is expected to be out in the cinemas by May 3, 2012 and is sure to bring in a lot of viewers and money.

2. MAN OF STEEL

I guess DC Comics characters wanted to steal the spotlight from the Marvel characters who have been grabbing so much attention for quite some time now. This film will be a reboot of the series and Henry Cavill will be taking the lead role for this movie. What will be a challenge for this movie is its originality and what new will it bring to the table. Everyone is aware of the superman’s history, a fact that can make or break the movie. But still, I have high expectations of it and I am looking forward to watching it. It is scheduled to be released on June 14, 2012.

3. ELYSIUM

In the third place we have Elysium. It stars Matt Damon and Jodie Foster in this post-apocalyptic film set in the year 2159 where the rich has fled Earth and transferred to a man-made space station named Elysium while the rest live in an overpopulated and ruined Earth. Jodie Foster plays Secretary Rhodes who makes sure everything goes according to plan and for everything to stay the way it is while Matt Damon plays an ex-con man named Max who takes the job of bringing equality to the polarized world. This film is set to be released on March 1, 2013 and it’s receiving high expectations from a lot of people.

4. THOR: THE DARK WORLD

A sequel to the 2011 film Thor which is pretty obvious from its title, Thor: The Dark World . The story would continue after the successful film The Avengers only this time, Thor is on his own adventure to save the universe. Thor battles to save all the Nine Realms from a mysterious enemy older than the universe itself. However, a primeval race led by Malekith, who is out for revenge, intends to descend the universe into darkness. Confronted by an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot overcome, Thor must reunite with Jane Foster and set out on a dangerous journey that will force him to make the ultimate sacrifice. The film is set to be released on November 8. 2013. [1]

5. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE

Get ready to catch Katniss once again as she's been chosen to be the tribute for her district in the 75th Annual Hunger Games. And this year, it will be special since it's the Quartell Quell, something that would change their lives forever. She's back for more action and is once again on a killing spree in order to survive.  It is scheduled to be released on November 22, 2013 with the actors from the first film reprising their roles in this sequel.

6. DESPICABLE ME 2

I'm pretty sure everyone is familiar with this movie from its successful predecessor Despicable Me. The plot is still undisclosed at this time and all we have to work with is the minions singing the Banana song. If you haven’t watched the trailer, this would be a good time to do so. The film is scheduled to be released on July 3.

7. MONSTERS UNIVERSITY

Monsters University is a prequel to the highly celebrated Pixar film Monsters Inc. which I’m, sure almost every 1990s kid have watched. The film takes place 10 years before the original film, where the monsters we knew were still studying. The film is set to be released on June 21, 2013.

8. A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD

Yippee ki-yay MOFO!!! John McClane is back and is ready to kick some ass. A Good Day to Die Hard, would probably be known by fans of Bruce Willis and his Die Hard series which started back in 1988. This would be the fifth installment to the series. Expect a whole lot of intense action, car chase scenes, and of course John McClane in Russia kicking some terrorists’ ass for the fifth time. It is set to be released on the day of love, February 14; this is good movie for your date if you’re not the type who likes chick flicks.

9. THE WOLVERINE

Starring none other than Hugh Jackman. Can anybody else even think of a better actor to play a wolfish character aside from him? It is a sequel to the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Wolverine is going to take us with his adventures this time to Japan. It is scheduled to be released on July 26, 2013.

10. OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL

Oz: The Great and Powerful is actually a prequel and it follows the adventure of Oscar Diggs played by James Franco in the Land of Oz way before Dorothy’s adventure. Directed by Sam Raimi who is known fro the Spiderman franchise and a whole lot of horror movies so it would be very interesting seeing a fantasy-themed movie from him. It is set to be released on March 8, 2013.
